MAQUOKETA — Robert J. “Bob” Nims, 90, of Maquoketa, died Friday at the Maquoketa Care Center.

There will be a celebration of his life at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

He was born Feb. 6, 1915, in Bridgeport to Roy Charles and Marcia F. Shrigley Nims.

He was educated in Bridgeport country schools.

He farmed near Bridgeport for many years before retiring to Maquoketa in 1993.

He was a 50-year member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, Maquoketa.

Survivors include two sisters, Julia Smith of Maquoketa and Doris Jean Nims of Maquoketa; and two nieces and two nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Bridgeport Cemetery Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
