Last rites for Wilmer (Willy) Hankemeier, 54, Iowa City, were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stanwood, Jan. 25, 1993 with burial in Perry Township cemetery, Andrew. Mr. Hankemeier died at his home Jan. 22.

The son of Elmer and Sylvia Wiegert Hankemeier, he was born at La Motte Oct. 25, 1938. He graduated from Andrew high school and worked as a hired hand for area farmers. He married Judith Jensen at Camdenton, Mo., Sept. 19, 1964. The couple first lived in Monticello. He worked at Sheller-Globe, Iowa City, from 1983 until the time of his death. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Iowa City.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; 3 daughters, Marie Simpson, Anamosa and Kathie and Joannie Hankemeier, Iowa City; a son, Bryant, West Branch; his parents, Elmer and Sylvia Hankemeier, Andrew; 2 sisters, Marilyn Knief, Maquoketa and Betty Schroeder, Andrew, and a brother, Ray, La Motte.
