Robert V. Pitts

PRESTON — Robert V. Pitts, 65, of Preston, died Wednesday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. Burial will be in the Rock Island (Ill.) Arsenal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born June 11, 1940, in Avon, Ill., to Verl and Pauline Dunham Pitts. He married Ruth Proske on Aug. 5, 1971, in Bettendorf.

He attended Alwood High School, Woodhull, Ill.

He was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Lori (Adam) Meyer of Leaf River, Ill.; four sons, Rob (Karen) Pitts of Chillicothe, Ill., Jerry Dean (Suzanne) Pitts of Monmouth, Ill., Tom (Tammy) Pitts of Maquoketa and Tim Pitts of Miles; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley (Jim) Swank of Owasso, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
