Jerry Dean Daniels, age 79, of Miles, IA, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Eagle Point Nursing Home, in Clinton, IA. A visitation will be held Wednesday July 27, 2022 at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Preston, IA from 4pm to 7pm. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Reeseville Cemetery at 11am, followed by a luncheon at the Preston American Legion Hall.

Jerry was born January 13, 1943 in Sabula, IA, the son of Leslie and Mavis (Baker) Daniels. He attended Miles schools through eighth grade, then went to work on the family farm, something he would continue throughout his life. He also worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 20 years, and for Ipsco Steel in Camanche, IA. On September 29, 1963, Jerry married Bonnie Giddings at the Preston Methodist Church.

Jerry was a hard-working man with a kind heart. He truly loved tending to the farm, and adored animals of all kinds. He especially enjoyed watching birds and playing with his cats and dogs. Dancing, desserts (namely banana bars), and his ’56 Ford always brought a smile to his face. At home, you could often find Jerry catching an episode of Gunsmoke, working on his truck, or cheering on (and sometimes scolding!) his Chicago Cubs. He found enjoyment in many things, but none more-so than his family and specifically, his grandchildren. The love and admiration he had for them was second to none.

Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife, Bonnie; children, Doug (Gladys) Daniels, Wendy (John) Malone, Daylen (Necole) Daniels, Sheila Urwin, and Cami (Matt) Brady; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn Williams, Beverly Wylie, and Judy (Dale) Pataska; as well as his several cats. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Mavis; daughter, Wanda (infant); brothers, Milton, Clifford, Donnie, Art, Norbert, Dale, and Jack; sisters, Doris, Darlene, Myrna, and Karen; and three dogs, Tinker, Sassy, and Brownie.
