Joy Ann Ackerman, age 65 of Sabula, Iowa passed away peacefully at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savanna, Il, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Church.

Joy was born in Savanna, Il on December 16th, 1956 to Tom and Pat (Vicks) Ackerman of Sabula, Iowa. Joy graduated with the class of 1975 from East Central High School. She worked for the Sabula Speaker factory and Nielsen Clearinghouse, all while being a super, single mom.

Joy was a kind soul, a loving mother and grandmother, a thoughtful daughter and a dear friend and sister. Joy's cackle can still be heard...

Joy is survived by her mother, Pat Ackerman, her daughter, Bridget (Ryan Kilburg), her two granddaughters, Camille and Lauren Kilburg, all of Sabula, IA and her partner of over 30 years, Rich Hartman of Savanna, IL; two sisters, Janet (Mike) Cotton of Sabula, IA, Julie (Ron) Draise of Chillicothe, OH; three brothers, Jon (Karen) Ackerman of Clinton, IA, Dave Ackerman of Sabula, IA and Tim (Fran) Ackerman of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles who were precious to her.

Joy's pallbearers will be Rich Hartman, Doug Sandholdt, Ron Draise, Ryan Kilburg, Steven Cotton, Tim, Dave and Jon Ackerman.

She is preceded in death by her number one fan, her father, Tom Ackerman, both her maternal and paternal grandparents, a niece Jill and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
We will feel "Joy" in our hearts forever...
