Maurine E. Stanton, 85, of Lost Nation, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 22, 2022, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A private family graveside service and burial will be held at a later date at Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Maurine Elaine Bock was born on February 15, 1937 in Baldwin, Iowa, to Harvey C. and Elsie C. (Gronwoldt) Bock. She was a 1954 graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Richard Stanton on November 3, 1956 in Lost Nation, Iowa. They later divorced.

Maurine had first worked at the Lost Nation COOP as a secretary for several years. She then owned and operated Stanton Trucking, hauling livestock and freight across the United States until 1985 when a fire destroyed her business. Being the independent woman she was, she took a job working at WADY's and later with MC Industries, both in Maquoketa. Lastly, she became a caregiver for her mother.

Maurine could create anything and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and knitting.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Deborah (Roger) Taylor of Baldwin, IA, and Kenneth (Carrie) Stanton of Scotch Grove, IA; a son-in-law, Kenny Derganz of Maquoketa, IA; 10 grandchildren, Trent (Lisa), Evelyn (Matt), Dana (Duane), Brooke (Travis), Brandi (Steven), Kendra (Paul), Cortney (Joe), Lynsey (Kyle), Dustin (Tabatha) and Aggie; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren (and one on the way). She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Linda Derganz, a brother Neil Bock, sister Nancy Rockwell, and a great-great-grandchild.

The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
