Lonny A. Gilmore, 74, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, February 9, 2022, at Country Manor Memory Care Center in Davenport, Iowa.

A celebration of Lonny's life will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the East Iron Hill Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

Lonny Alan Gilmore was born on September 19, 1947 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Benjamin F. and Rosalie J. (Edwards) Gilmore. He was a 1966 graduate of Maquoketa High School and served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He married Nancy Jean Busch on February 9, 1969 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Jeff and Mike.

Lonny had first worked for Ruan Transportation for 11 years from 1970 to 1981. He then owned and operated Gilmore Dry Cleaners in Maquoketa for over 30 years, retiring in 2013.

Lonny was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, and a former member of the Maquoketa Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, computers, flying, drag racing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Nancy Gilmore of Maquoketa, IA; sons, Jeff (Julie) Gilmore of Mount Pleasant, IA, and Mike (Kimm) Gilmore of West Liberty, IA; 4 grandchildren, Jenna, Josie, Kamryn and Melanie; and a brother, Charles (Phyllis) Gilmore of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Kimberly.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to any area Dementia association or hospice of the donor's choice.
