Dolores A. Mitchell, 86, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 6, 2022, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of Dolores' life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Monmouth, Iowa Cemetery.

Dolores Ann Wosoba was born on July 12, 1935 in Baldwin, Iowa, to Emil and Amelia (Pavlovsky) Wosoba. She was a 1952 graduate of Baldwin High School and then received her teaching degree from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She married Max Arthur Mitchell on June 10, 1962 in Baldwin, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Margaret, Diane, and Robert.

Dolores worked as an elementary school teacher for over 30 years, with time spent teaching in Lost Nation, Cedar Rapids, Vinton, and Maquoketa from 1972 until retiring in 1998.

Dolores was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching soap operas, and most importantly spending time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Margaret (Kerry) Lucke of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Diane (Scott) Stephany of Huxley, IA, and Robert (Amy) Mitchell of Henderson, NV; and 7 grandchildren, Abigail, Marisa, Katie, Nathan, Rachel, Olivia, and Calista. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max on March 8, 2012, a brother, and a sister.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Camp Courageous of Iowa, or the Maquoketa Public Library.
