Herbert E. “Herb” Edwards, 83, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on September 15, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

A private burial will be held at Streets Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. At Peace Cremation Services have been provided by Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Friends and family may gather from 4 to 7 P.M., Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Eagles Club in Maquoketa.

Herbert Eli Edwards was born on February 5, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Vermel and Birdie (Lange) Edwards. He grew up in the Bernard area. He married Judy Jeffers and they later divorced.

“Herb” had worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for many years and had also been self-employed doing logging and bulldozing.

“Herb” was an avid lover of tractors and would spend many hours working on and restoring them, especially F-30 and F-20 Tractors. He enjoyed going to the junkyard, visiting with the guys and going to the races. You always wanted to be prepared for the unexpected when you were with Herbert as he had many fun adventures.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Lori Feuss of Maquoketa, IA, Joe Clary of IA, and Lisa Frank of OR; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Dave “Pickel” (Elaine) Edwards of Maquoketa, IA, and Butch (Marilyn) Edwards of Maquoketa, IA; and Sheryl Mounts of Maquoketa. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Herbert E. “Herb” Edwards memorial fund has been established.
