On September 16, 2021, Julianne (Kuhl) Streets, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, September 23, from 3:00-7:00. It will be required to utilize masks during the visitation. A celebration of Julie's life will be held on Friday, September 24 at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00.

Julie was born to Ray and Genevieve "Sally" (Yates) Kuhl on December 27, 1947, in Clinton, IA. She married Dennis Streets of Monmouth, IA, on October 29, 1966. Together they had four children: Lisa (Will) Hartsell of Montgomery, IL; Sheila Streets of Palatine, IL; Chris (Dawn) Streets of Dubuque, IA; and Scott Streets of Davenport, IA. She was the loving grandmother to six wonderful grandchildren, Lauren, Lexi, and Max (Chris), Caitlin and Luke (Lisa), and Brigham (Scott). Julie was a sister to five sisters and one brother, a friend, and advocate for countless people who will never know the full extent of her impact.

Julie always led an active life. She attended Miles Community School where she was involved in school plays, band, choir, and basketball where she was proud of her game high 52 points.

She opened Kountry Kraft on Quarry Street in 1978 where she hosted craft classes and demonstrations. She later moved to downtown Maquoketa and closed her shop after 24 years in 2002. She was active in the Peace Pipe Players performing in several shows. She never missed a high school basketball game watching her husband coach. Julie was also involved in the Maquoketa Chamber of Commerce, Jackson County Foundation, and the committee for the renovation of Sacred Heart Church.

Most recently, her love of gardening took center stage being part of the Maquoketa Garden Club and Master Gardeners participating in the open class flower show and the Maquoketa Farmers Market where she was known for having the best pies in town. She continued her crafting fix by decorating Maquoketa State Bank at Christmastime for many years and decorating Christmas trees at Ohnward Fine Arts Center. Julie often traveled with her daughter, Sheila, and enjoyed multiple trips to Disneyworld with each of her grandchildren. She spent many hours watching all of her grandchildren participate in their various athletic events.

Julie is survived by Dennis, her husband of 55 years, her four children, six grandchildren, four sisters, Mary Tietjens of Clermont, FL; Jan Kuhl of Ankeny, IA; Diane Kuhl (Dan Westover) of Ft. Collins, CO; and Patrice Kuhl (Marc Ramsey) of Lakeside, TX; and one brother, Phillip Kuhl (Barb) of Morton, IL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Kathy Shannon, and two nephews.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County, Sacred Heart Church, or Ohnward Fine Arts Center.
