Dale Murchison Weeks (1963-2021)

Dale Murchison Weeks, 58, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, August 24, 2021, from complications of Metastatic Melanoma.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Monday, August 30, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.

Dale was born on January 18, 1963 in Menard, Texas to Betty McBee and Kenneth Gail “Willie” Murchison. As an infant he was adopted by R.D. and Bertie (Ingram) Weeks. He grew up in Texas and spent his early years in Texas and Las Vegas. At the age of 25, he met Stephanie Sprague a nurse from Iowa in Abilene, Texas. They lived together in Texas for two years moving to Iowa in 1988. They purchased a farm near Fulton, Iowa, and have lived there ever since.

Dale and Stephanie married on December 2, 1988 in Bellevue, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Hunter and Connor.

Dale loved selling cars and trucks, especially Ford Trucks. He worked at Arrow Ford and Hilcher Ford in Texas, and Dahl Ford, Burnett-Thiel Ford, Warthan Ford, and Brad Deery Ford in Iowa.

Dale loved his home state of Texas. He was extremely proud to be a sixth generation Texan and raised Texas Longhorn Cattle on his farm. He was an avid reader and especially loved reading about Texas history.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Stephanie Weeks of Maquoketa, IA; children, Hunter Weeks of Elwood, IA, and Connor Weeks of Maquoketa, IA; his mother, Betty Bufkin of Lockhart, TX; siblings, Wanda Gail (Phil) Bass of Lockhart, TX, Kenny (Lezli) Murchison of Giddings, TX, Bambi Murchison of Wimberley, TX, Darrell (Becky) Murchison of Fredricksburg, TX, Boyd “Hoppy” (Tina) Murchison of Menard, TX, Lee (Danette) Murchison of Wichita Falls, TX, Ronnie (Mary) McBee of Brady, TX, Bobbie (Ronnie) Barnett of Granbury, TX, Robert (Karen) Weeks of Graham, TX, Brandy (Lori Beth) Weeks of Eastland, TX, and Rebekah Weeks of Ireland. He was preceded in death by his biological father Kenneth Gail “Willie” Murchison, his adopted parents R.D. and Bertie Weeks, and 3 siblings Patricia Gail Myrick Murchison, Joyce Weeks and Bill Manning.
