Elaine (Mikki) A. Anderson, 82, of Delmar, Iowa passed away on June 22, 2021 at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Those left to honor Elaine’s memory include: her five children Dave Anderson of Maquoketa, IA, Laurie (Jon) Thomsen of Oxford Junction, IA, Deb (Ken) Carr of Estero, FL, Steve (Laura) Anderson of Delmar and Jim (Terri) Anderson of Maquoketa, her sister Geri (Ben) Benedetti of Spokane, WA and Marilyn Calkins of Tacoma, WA. Also, she will be lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren and many friends.

Elaine Alice Calkins was born on September 18, 1938 in Chippewa Falls, WI to Orville and Esther (Krueger) Calkins. After high school she married Roger Anderson in Tacoma, WA and they moved to Iowa to settle in Roger’s hometown area. Elaine worked at Clinton Engines, Stouffer’s Factory, Hoof Products Company, and as a mother and homemaker. She retired in 1999 when she injured her hand and could no longer work. After retirement she worked at Super 8 and Comfort Inn in housekeeping.

Elaine enjoyed reading and always had a book going. She loved crossword puzzles; it was the first thing she did when getting the t.v. guide. She was quite adept at putting together jigsaw puzzles, too and as long as they fit on the table, she tackled 1000+ piece puzzles. Prior to her hand injury, she enjoyed crocheting blankets for her grandchildren. Elaine also loved her gardens, tending them and making her backyard a small oasis where she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds come to feed. Another joy of hers was meeting her friends for coffee every Monday and Friday. She would follow that up with coffee with oldest and youngest son. Some favorite memories of her kids was going to the bowling alley while Elaine and Roger bowled leagues.

Services will be at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, IA on (June 26 from 9:00 – 11:00). It was Elaine’s wish to be cremated; there will be no burial service after the funeral.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made to the COPD Foundation, https://www.copdfoundation.org/Take-Action/Donate/Donate-Now.aspx
