Obituary

Eric “Pickle” Scott Clausen, 65, of rural Preston, Iowa passed away at home on Friday, June, 11, 2021. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of his life taking place from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, June 18, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A Funeral Service will immediately follow the celebration of life at the funeral home. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Eric was born July 20, 1955 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Wilfred and Darlean (Drury) Clausen. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. Following high school, Eric received technical certifications in both Plumbing and Welding.

Eric was united in marriage to Bonnie Graff on August 12, 1978 at the Reformed Church, Clinton.

Eric worked at Ralston and several constructions jobs before moving on to work at Alcoa for many years and then Arconic in the Maintenance Department.

Eric loved the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing or just cutting wood for his wood burning furnace or to setup a nice bon-fire to enjoy with family and friends. He also enjoyed making his own fishing lures – a skilled woodworker and craftsman. Eric proudly handmade beautiful wooden baby cradles for each of his children. Throughout his life he enjoyed and loved all of his fur-baby’s - his German Shepherds. Above all, he loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren.

Eric is survived by his wife Bonnie of Preston; children - Melissa (Alex) Paradise of West Des Moines, Kimberly Clausen of Spragueville and Courtney (Jay) Atkinson of Preston; Grandchildren – Emily, Erika, Alexander, David, Addison, Dominic, Nicole, Nicolas, Leah, Jaycee, Patrick and Blaine; one brother and one sister; one aunt; other extended family members, cousins and many friends - especially friends from work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson and infant great-granddaughter.
