Shirley Arlene Mangler, 89, of Chillicothe,IL formerly of Sabula, IA passed away peacefully on Monday, May 17, 2021. She was born on December 9, 1931 in Hauntown, IA, the daughter of Lester and Bertha (Henricksen) Clark. A public visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2021, from 4pm to 6pm at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Savanna, IL. Burial will take place on a later date, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Sabula, IA.

She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Charles H. Mangler for 51 years. Being the wife of a railroad engineer, she had the fried egg sandwiches packed and ready to go for the late night call outs. As a teenager, Shirley worked at Swift & Company in Clinton, IA and later in life at Products Unlimited in Sabula, IA.

She was an exceptional mother and grandmother. She never missed a chance to cheer on her kids and grandkids at basketball, volleyball, and softball games. Her favorite teams were the Sabula Panthers, East Central Raiders, Cornell Rams, LA Lakers, and the Steelers. She loved country music and western movies with John Wayne. She enjoyed traveling by plane to Las Vegas, Arizona, and Florida. Shirley wanted her family and friends to know that she loved them greatly.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters Connie (Jim) Legel of Bullhead City, AZ and Carla (Dan) O'Lear of Chillicothe, IL, two sons Lon Mangler of Enderlin, ND and John (Sharon) Mangler of Sabula, IA, one sister Linda (Don) Reed of Gambier, OH, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, one daughter at birth, two brothers, and one daughter in law.
