Obituary for Mary Clark
Mary Clark, age 88, passed away Mon., May 3, 2021 at Clover Ridge Place, Maquoketa, IA with family by her side. Visitation will be held Fri., May 7th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Preston, IA from 9 am until the funeral at 11 am. A graveside service will follow at the Miles Cemetery.

Mary Ellen was born Dec. 17, 1932 in Sabula, IA to William and Viola (Henrichsen) Giddings. She graduated from Sabula High School with the Class of 1950 and then worked as a secretary at Curtis Woodworking Co. in Clinton, IA. Mary married Winston Clark of Sabula on July 20, 1952 and celebrated 44 years of marriage until Winston passed away on July 28, 1996. They had six children and farmed for many years near Preston.

Mary was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Martha Circle. She was a 63 year member of the Miles American Legion Auxiliary. Throughout the years Mary and Winston were part of several card clubs and active in the Izaak Walton League of Sabula. They were a 4-H family and participated in the Jackson County Fair for over 25 years. She belonged to several organizations.

Mary enjoyed visiting with family and friends, gardening, baking, playing cards, bingo, and going on trips. She cherished the time with her children, grandchildren, and family.

Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Ray (Diane) of Tucson, Arizona, Sherry (Don) Luskey of Cedar Rapids, Kevin of Preston and Doug of DeWitt; four grandchildren Amy Luskey (fiancé Ryan Steines), Tashell Clark, and Tanner and Reilly Clark; four step-grandchildren Melissa, Dave, Doug and Trish; and several step-great grandchildren. Her brothers Dwain (Rusty) Giddings of Miles and Willy (Lola) Giddings of Sabula; sister-in-law Elaine Clark of Scottsdale, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Winston, son Randy, daughter Brenda, and daughter-in-law Diane.
