WYOMING--Funeral services for Harry Johnson, sr. 72, Monmouth, were held at the Monmouth Methodist church on Thursday, July 2, at 2 p.m. Rev. Stanley Chapin conducted the service. Burial was in the Pence cemetery, Baldwin.
Pallbearers included John Allen, John Switzer, Ronald Orris, Carl Heath, Louis Zak and Jim DeVore.
Junior Hicks was soloist and was accompanied by Mrs. Louis Zak, organist.
He was born Nov. 3, 1892, son of Henry Clay Johnson and Aley Dowden Johnson, south of Baldwin. He lived in Jackson county all of his life with the exception of one year spent at Wilton Junction. He was custodian of the Monmouth school for 14 years and after retiring took care of the Monmouth cemetery and park.
Survivors include 12 children, Ruby, Mrs. Harold DueMong, Maquoketa; Helen, Mrs. Neville Shady, Monmouth; Harriet, Mrs. Art Ehlers, Wyoming; Evelyn, Mrs. Henry Hansen, Wyoming; Lillian, Mrs. Marvin Campbell, Monmouth.
Henry Eli Johnson, Monmouth; Harry Johnson, jr., Wyoming; Mary, Mrs. Richard Holzworth, Marion; Mildred, Mrs. Meinhart Hansen, Cedar Rapids; Howard Johnson, Maquoketa, Martha, Mrs. Darrell Stender, Maquoketa; Phyllis, Mrs. Emmert Carstensen, Camanche.
Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Ketchum who lives at the Manning Nursing home, Maquoketa; 56 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and three brothers.
