Marion was born July 12, 1928, in Green Island, IA, the daughter of Albert and Clara (Theisen) Yoerger. She attended country school in the Green Island area. On September 19, 1949, Marion married Milton Daniels in Maquoketa, IA. The couple went on to have two children and celebrate 62 years of marriage, before Milton’s passing, in 2011.

Marion spent nearly her entire life on the farm; 72 years, to be exact. And while she did a fine job keeping the household, she was far more than a housewife. She poured all she had into her farm, often milking cows and keeping up with chores, while Milton was hard at work for the railroad.

When she and Milton found some free time, they would head out dancing, often at Mooney Hollow Barn, and would regularly turn to one of their favorite past times; baseball. Between Milton and his seven brothers, they could usually field an entire team, and Marion loved to cheer on her husband from the bleachers. Once the final out was recorded, the siblings would often drag race home in their cars. Marion, being the more level-headed of the bunch wasn’t fond of this tradition, and boy did she let Milton have it, the time he accidentally clipped his brother’s bumper!

As Marion and Milton settled into their more wisdom-filled years, they enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, and adored time spent with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marion loved her family dearly, and loved going to Geno’s with them, for pizza and Busch Light; and then maybe a glass of Mogan David wine when she got home. Marion will be forever remembered for her quick wit (those grandkids didn’t stand a chance!) and her love of the simple things in life. A cardinal perched in the yard, would always make her smile, and any and all time spent with those she loved, brought her peace and comfort.

Marion will be dearly missed by her son, Roger Daniels, of Bellevue, IA; daughter, Darla (Gary) Smith, of Sabula, IA; grandchildren, Chad (Noelle) Devereaux, of Preston, IA and Travis (Nicki) Smith, of Sabula, IA; and great-grandchildren, Kory Devereaux, Justin Ripple and Mackenzie Ripple, of Preston, IA, and Emery and Levi Smith, of Sabula, IA. Marion is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Clara, and her husband, Milton.

Marion and her family would like to thank Jackson County Hospice, Genesis Home Health Care, Dr. Kimberly Thompson, and caregiver, Sharon Kueter for all their care and support, over Marion’s final months.
