James Patrick Franzen, 90, of Clinton, Iowa, died Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his daughter's home in Clinton. Services will be held 9:00AM Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:00AM until the service hour Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com. Pallbearers will be Kevin Franzen, Adam Franzen, Raymond Bickel, Todd Kramer, Dan Murray, Dan Peters and Andrew Kasterke. Christian Franzen Engel will be an honorary pallbearer.
James was born March 28, 1930 in Sugar Creek, Iowa, the son of Mathias and Mary Evalyn (Dwyer) Franzen. He was educated in the Jackson County Schools. He married Marletta Mae Bickel July 23, 1955 in Lost Nation, Iowa; Marletta died August 13, 2012.
James was a US Marine Corps Korean War veteran. He was a member of Prince of Peace and was a member of the 25 year Club at Clinton Corn.
He was employed at Clinton Corn Processing/ADM for more than 37 years, retiring in 1994.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Franzen of St. Louis, MO; Daughters, Teresa Franzen of Fairfield, IA and Janelle (Dan Murray) Lindeman of Clinton, IA; grandchildren, Adam (Anna) Franzen, Clarissa (Andrew) Kasterke, Seana Martin, Christian Franzen Engel, Casey (Todd) Kramer, Molly Lindeman and Chloe Lindeman; Great-grandchildren, Braeden Kramer, Madalyn Kramer, Cadence Kasterke, Camila Franzen and Anabella Franzen; siblings, Jo Ann Reiter of Anamosa, IA; Leonard (Cheryl) Franzen of DeWitt, IA; Martin Franzen of Maquoketa, IA; Patsy (Orville) Wagner of Delmar, IA; Edward "Butch" (Marie) Franzen of DeWitt, IA; Marvin (Barb) Franzen of Maquoketa, IA; Wayne (Julie) Franzen of Maquoketa, IA and Rita Hughes of Maquoketa, IA.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Anna Marie Wagner, Vincent Franzen, Gerald Franen, Marcelene Eganhouse and Rosalia Franzen and sister-in-law, Marlyss Bickel.
Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace.
