Glenn Frances Haylock, beloved “grandpa” to MANY family members and friends, died January 7, 2021 at the age of 92.

Glenn was born to Frank George Haylock and Minnie Bertha Holtz, of Maquoketa, Iowa on May 18th, 1928. He graduated from Maquoketa High School, and then married the love of his life, Barbara McNamara on January 26th, 1958. He had a long-standing, loyal career at DuPont in Clinton, Iowa until retirement, while also working the family farm between Maquoketa and Preston, Iowa.

Glenn moved out of the family farmhouse he had lived in for 70 years to be near his children & grandchildren and had a beautifully well-kept hobby farm in Frederic, Wisconsin. There he created and lovingly tended a huge garden. He was known for his irreplaceably delicious applesauce, canned tomatoes and a huge pumpkin patch to which he invited hoards of family and friends to gather and choose pumpkins each year. He played a mean game of Euchre and enjoyed traveling to spend time with family and friends on occasion. He also loved the color green and yellow aka “John Deere Green.” He was a Unity Basketball fan and enjoyed watching his grandsons and their team play.

Glenn was an admirably faithful man, serving at his churches in both hometowns. He is surely rejoicing in the arms of Jesus and reuniting with his beloved wife, parents, brothers (George and Leroy) and sister (Berniece Adams). He is survived by his children David “Murdock” (Helen) Haylock and Dawn (Kyle) Ward and grandchildren Dakota, Hunter, Maury and Douglas. Countless others called him grandpa and considered him family. He was a loved man! And his great big hugs were the absolute best.

A special gratitude for the caregivers and staff at his last place of residence, the United Pioneer Home in Luck, WI, which he loved. He made a lot of new friends there and loved everyone that took care of him. He enjoyed a long, healthy, fulfilling life and will rest in the arms of our Savior, until we meet again.

Private Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Clinton Memorial Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa. Cards or gifts of condolences can be directed to PO Box 258, Wyoming, Iowa 52362. Dawson Funeral Services of Maquoketa is caring for his family.
