Darlene H. Coon, 84, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa from complications of CoVid 19.

A private family graveside service and burial celebrating Darlene’s life will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. There is no public visitation. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Darlene H. Graves was born on March 31, 1936 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Harold E. and Hattie M. (Young) Graves. She was a 1956 graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Charles F. Coon on July 1, 1957 in Wyoming, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1970.

Darlene had worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several years and had also done babysitting for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Maquoketa. She loved her faith, and enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbors.

Those left to honor her memory include two nephews, Dale (Beverly) Tubbs of Charlotte, IA, and Richard Tubbs of Maquoketa, IA; and 4 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
