Matthew A. Bowling, 23, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday evening, October 30, 2020, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa from injuries received in an automobile accident.

A public graveside service and burial celebrating his life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, November 6, 2020 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.

Masks are required and it is recommended to practice social distancing guidelines due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Matthew Allen Bowling was born on October 8, 1997 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Everett and Brenda (Bystol) Bowling. He grew up in Maquoketa and was a 2016 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. Following high school, he had been self-employeed working on vehicles and for the past two years he had worked as an automotive technician at Thiesen's in Maquoketa.

Matthew was a natural with vehicles and always enjoyed tinkering. He loved being outdoors and fishing for anything that was biting. Additionally, he was an animal lover and was known for caring for stray cats and dogs and even turtles!

Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Everett and Brenda Bowling of Maquoketa, IA; brothers, Travis (Sheila) Bowling of Maquoketa, IA, and Brad (Tabitha) Bowling of Grimes, IA; a sister, Stephanie Bowling of Andrew, IA; half-sister, Carrie (Chris) Browne of Baldwin, IA; paternal grandmother, Elinor Bowling of Maquoketa, IA; nieces and nephews, Dylan, Kaiden, Hunter, Jadyn, Easton, Dexter, Wendy, Shelby, and Cheyenne; and his girlfriend, Paige Cupps of Dubuque, IA. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Oscar and Marie Bystol, and paternal grandfather George Bowling.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Matthew A. Bowling memorial fund has been established.
