Maxine F. Miller, 85, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2020, at her home.
A public graveside service and burial celebrating Maxine's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 26, 2020 at East Iron Hill Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. A public memorial visitation will take place from 5 to 7 P.M. on Friday, September 25, 2020, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.
It is recommended to utilize masks during the visitation and practice social distancing due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Maxine Fae Tracy was born on June 28, 1935 in Milford, Iowa, to Clifford and Esther (Sonnemaker) Tracy. She attended the Cedar Grove Grade Country School and then Maquoketa High School with the Class of 1953. She married Donald Franklin Miller on December 22, 1951 in Rural Baldwin, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Joyce, Stephen and Tracy.
Maxine was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Maquoketa area for many years. In earlier years, she had worked at area restaurants and at the sale barn.
Maxine was a member of the East Iron Hill Community Church and the East Iron Hill Church Ladies Aid. She enjoyed being a part of the Class of 1953 luncheons. Additionally, she enjoyed gardening, canning, picking berries, and sewing. She loved to bake and was known by many for her homemade pies and bread.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Joyce (Kim) Richardson of Pelican Lakes, MN, and Tracy (Keith) Nims of Davenport, IA; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores DeLarm of Wyoming, IA, and Shirley (Keith) Crow of Amery, WI; and brothers, Mark (Nettie) Tracy of Onslow, IA, Jerry (Jan) Tracy of Hazel Green, WI and Burt (Rosemary) Tracy of Wyoming, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald on September 1, 2018, brothers Carlyle and Darrell Tracy, a sister Leona Soppe, a son Stephen Miller on June 13, 2020, and a daughter-in-law Barbara Miller on August 27, 2020.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Maxine F. Miller memorial fund has been established.
