Orva Edith Lucille Webster, age 86, was born on the family farm and spent her life in Preston, Iowa. She passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at home in the care of her loving family. Visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Law-Jones, Preston. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Preston, IA. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Orva’s honor. Orva was born June 6, 1934, in rural Preston, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Pearl (Daniels) Meyer. Orva attended Deep Creek Country School then Preston High School. On July 14, 1961 Orva married Burdette ‘Babe’ Webster, he passed away on June 18, 1980.
Along with Burdette, Orva owned and operated Babe & Orva’s Hideaway from 1977-2010. They also managed the Preston Legion Club for 7 years. Orva worked several years at Clinton Engines Factory in Maquoketa and 2 years at ADM in Clinton. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Preston, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Maquoketa Eagles Club.
Orva enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play sports. Her grandchildren were most important to her. She enjoyed sharing a birthday with her great granddaughter Kallie. Orva loved her flamingos, playing cards, watching Westerns and Wheel of Fortune. The family will always remember her for her hard work ethic, generosity, understanding heart; her sassy spirit, and speaking her mind.
Her famous entrance “Have no fear, Orva’s here!” will be remembered by many. Orva’s patrons meant the world to her. The family thanks you kindly for your continued support.
Orva will be dearly missed by her five children, Roxie (David) Schmitt of Dewitt, Roy (Tracy) Webster of Preston, Rhonda (Lonnie) Eickert of Miles, and Angelia (Tim) Webster-Gradert of Port Byron, Illinois; Rodney (Deb) Brown of Clinton; 14 grandchildren, Rodger, Stacy, Michael, Adam, Lonnie, Paula, Paige, Lacey, Jessica, Susan, Libby, Justin, Mason, Damien; 34 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne (Bonnie) Meyer of Kansas City, Kansas, and four godchildren Barb Doland, Doreen Papke, Darwin Miller, Billy Cook. Orva is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Babe; two sons, Roger and Randy; her brother, Archie Meyer; four sisters, Fern Miller, Erma Ringen, Vera Michels and Edna Cook; a daughter-in-law, Joan Webster, a godson Alvin Graves and grandson Jason Schmitt.
