Phyllis Mae Scott, 88, of Maquoketa, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Monmouth, Iowa Cemetery.

Phyllis Mae Ward was born on November 9, 1931 in Jones County, Iowa, to Adelbert and Lily Viola (Lantz) Ward. She attended Monmouth High School and later earned her GED from Maquoketa High School in 1982. She married George "Sonny" Scott Jr. on December 8, 1948 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2001.
Phyllis worked various jobs throughout the years most notably as a dietician at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa, Food Service Manager at Camp Wyoming for 25 years, and operated Elna's Senior Home in Baldwin for several years.

Phyllis was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Onslow, Iowa. She was a very hard worker who enjoyed having company and feeding people. She was always caring for others and looking out for other people.

Those left to honor her memory include a son, Paul (Mary Jane) Scott of Anamosa, IA; a sister, Florence McCutcheon of Maquoketa, IA; a special niece, Iola McCutcheon of Maquoketa, IA; 4 grandchildren, Jason (Joe) Scott of Des Moines, IA, Jasper (Brooke) Scott of Anamosa, IA, Dan (Gwen) Kuper of Scotch Grove, IA, and Jody (Dave) Lietz of Scotch Grove, IA; 5 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Trey and Jayden Kuper, Brayden Cigrand of Anamosa, IA, and Eli Scott of Anamosa, IA; a brother-in-law, Harry J. Huebbe of Baldwin, IA; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Jerry Ehlers of Dubuque, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Hildreth and Raymond, and a sister-in-law Ruth Huebbe on May 29, 2020.
