SPENCERVILLE--Funeral services for Leo Sanderson were held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Carson-Balster funeral home at Maquoketa. The Rev. H. D. Green, pastor of the First Methodist church, Maquoketa, officiated. Pallbearers were Earl Current, James Clapp, Will Cook, Harry Gilmore, Harvey Current and Tom Wilcox.
Mr. Sanderson died Tuesday following a heart attack when he ran to the scene of an accident in an adjoining field on the Leroy Petersen farm. Peterson and his son, Charles, were injured when a load of hay upset.
Peterson suffered a gash on his head which required several stitches and the boy's back was injured. When Peterson returned to the field they found Sanderson lying beside the hay loader dead.
Leo Dale Sanderson was born Oct. 3, 1891, in Lost Nation. He was married to Miss Leona Hardin March 6, 1919. Surviving are his wife, two children, Mrs. Marjorie Rowe, and Marvin Eugene, both of Monmouth; three sisters, Mrs. L. J. Rohwedder, Olin; Miss Loretta Sanderson, Murdo, S.D.; Mrs. Dillon Atherton, Springville; two brothers, M. E. Sanderson, Murdo, S.D., and A. M. Sanderson, Mount Vernon.
