Maquoketa, Iowa, May 27--Mary E., oldest daughter of Timan and Eliza Sawdey, was born in Penn Yan, New York, in 1841, and passed away at the home of her son, Guy near Iron Hill, Iowa, Friday, May 21, 1915, death resulting from a stroke suffered one week previous to her death. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1847 and in 1856 was united in marriage with William Bowling, who preceded her in death sixteen years ago. To this union were born six children Albert, Charles M., John F., and August, all of this city; one daughter, Nettie, and one son, Adelbert having passed away some time ago.
Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her death, two brothers, Ed Swadey of Monk, S.D., and Henry Sawdey of Moline, and a sister, Mrs. Wagner of Cedar Rapids; two step-sisters, Eliza Belnap and Mary Alspah both of Anamosa.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home at Iron Hill, Rev. Gilkinson of the First M.E. church of Maquoketa officiating. Interment was made in the Iron Hill cemetery.
