Obituary
Thomas A. Bollinger, 87, of Maquoketa passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

To celebrate Thomas’ Life we will be gathering on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Dawson Funeral Home in Maquoketa.

Thomas Allen was born on November 13, 1932 to John and Erma (McCutcheon) Bollinger. He graduated from Andrew High School in 1951. In 1953 he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he faithfully and honorably served. On December 3, 1955 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Donna Mae Robinson in Jackson County. He worked for many years as an electrician for Caterpillar.

He was a 46-year member of the American Legion of Maquoketa, a former president and a member for over 38 years of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and a member of the AMVETS. Thomas was the founder of 6B’s Campground in Maquoketa where he made many memories with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of nearly 65 years Donna, three sons; Mike Bollinger of Aurora, CO, Jeff Bollinger and Craig (Karen T.) Bollinger of Maquoketa, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a sister Lorraine Miller of Bellevue and a brother Bill (Dolores) Bollinger of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a brother, a son Bruce and a grandson Bruce.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his caretakers for the exceptional care they gave him over the years.
