Maquoketa, Ia., Oct. 20--John Dennis died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John J. Briggs, on South Second street last night. Deceased was born in Charleston, S.C., 86 years ago this month and came here fifty years ago. He was the father of eight children, one son, Dow Dennis, dying at Preston six years ago, and two dying in infancy. Those surviving are: Mrs. Lucy Briggs, at whose home he died; Will Dennis, Charles Dennis of Clinton, and Edward and Hiley, living here. The funeral will be held at Andrew tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 at the Methodist church.
