Susie D. Barnette, 60, of Baldwin, Iowa, passed away on Saturday morning, January 18, 2020, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A natural journey farewell with cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held from 5 to 8 P.M. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the United Pentecostal Church in Maquoketa. A second gathering of family and friends celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 1 to 5 P.M. at Pearson Hall in Maquoketa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Susie Diane Fultner was born on April 5, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Clyde and Arlene (Beaman) Fultner. She was a 1978 graduate of Andrew Community High School. She married Leonard Barnette on July 2, 1981 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Although they were not blessed with children of their own, many called her mom and grandma.

Susie worked different jobs throughout the years. For the past 30 years they owned and operated Barnette Hauling and she worked alongside her husband until she became disabled and was no longer able to help with the route.

Susie enjoyed going to Bingo, visiting with family and friends, adult coloring, and playing games on her phone.

Those left to honor Susie's memory include her husband Leonard Barnette of Baldwin, IA; her father Clyde Fultner of Maquoketa, IA; sisters, Katy Riordan of Maquoketa, IA, and Cathy Schlung of Maquoketa, IA; and a brother Dennis (Jodi) Fultner of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her mother Arlene on December 14, 2007 and a nephew David Jochum in July of 2007.
