Bellevue, Aug. 28--Silently and swiftly death came and beckoned a loving wife and mother, neighbor and friend Monday morning. Having finished her housework at her home in North Bellevue, Mrs. Burkhart Yaeger, got ready and walked to their farm on Spruce Creek, where her two sons and a daughter reside and where they were getting read for the thrashers. She had been in her usual good health, helping with the preparations of food and grain sacks. At about 6 o'clock the flies having gathered thick she took a swatter and went to swatting them. She mounted the chair that she might reach the ceiling, and feeling faint sat down for a few moments. She again got on the chair and in a moment staggered and fell into the arms of her daughter. She never regained consciousness and passed away almost instantly. The doctor pronounced it apoplexy.

Mr. Yaeger was in town and hastened home immediately but upon finding that his wife had passed away he became unconscious and remained in that condition all night.

Doris Wackenheimer was born at Galena, 63 years ago last February. She grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Mr. Yaeger in Galena. Shortly after being married she came to the farm on which she died, and raised her family of seven sons and three daughters until three years ago last spring, when they bought a nice home in Bellevue.

The funeral services were held Thursday morning at St. Joseph's church with requiem high mass celebrated by Father Fies, assisted by Father Estel, after which burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. The services were largely attended, the ten children all being present. Gus and his wife and Emily and her husband, Joe Wagoner coming from Cress county, and Rose from Muscatine. The other children live here. Those most deeply affected have the sympathy of their many friends.
