Maquoketa, Ia., May 14--Samson Luther Reel was relieved of his suffering Saturday, May 12, 1917, after a lingering illness. He was born in Ohio, Dec. 21, 1844 making him 72 years, 4 months and 21 days old. His parents were born in Pennsylvania. The Reel family came to Iowa in 1857 and as a family were highly respected.

The deceased was a retired farmer, a bachelor, was fond of his sister, Miss Beyancy, who has kept house for him for years.

The funeral was held today at 2:30 p.m. from their elegant home on the corner of Maid and Maple streets, Rev. Webster officiating.

He leaves to mourn his loss three brothers and two sisters: William and Wilber L. of Maquoketa, John of Los Angeles, Cal., Miss Beyancy of Maquoketa and Mrs. George Chase of Onslow.

Interment at Mt. Hope cemetery.
