Robert M. "Hoop" Hooper, 71, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. There is no public visitation and cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date at Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

Robert Malcolm Hooper was born on March 25, 1948 in Concord, Massachusetts to Alden and Loretta (Brown) Hooper. He was a graduate of Bedford, Massachusetts High School and then served his country in the U.S. Marines Corps. He married Elke A. Teitelbaum on March 21, 1992 in Dubuque, Iowa.

Robert had worked as a car salesman at various dealership's in the Midwest and on the East Coast.

Robert had attended God's Family Baptist Church in Grand Mound, Iowa. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and Iowa Hawkeye's football.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Elke Hooper of Maquoketa, IA; children, Michael (Stephani Decker) of Dubuque, IA, Theresa (Travis Ryan) Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA, Nicholas (Teri) Hooper of Dubuque, IA; step-children, Jayson (Careyanne) Wood of Maquoketa, IA, and Josh (Niki) Wood of Maquoketa, IA; 11 grandchildren; a sister Victoria Steele of WA; and brothers Thomas Hooper of MA, Chip Hooper of MA, Steve Hooper of WA and Bill Hooper. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Robert M. "Hoop" Hooper memorial fund has been established.
