Maquoketa, Iowa, April 21--Pope Taylor, an old time resident of Jackson county, passed away Wednesday evening at his home on Dearborn street after a six months' illness with cancer.
In 1844 he was born in Pennsylvania and was very young when his parents came to Jackson county, where Mr. Taylor spent the greater part of his life.
He enjoyed farm life until about ten years ago when he decided to retire from active farm life and came to this city and has resided with his daughter, Mrs. Eva King.
Mrs. Taylor passed away about sixteen years ago. He is survived by five children, Joseph of this city; Abner of Davenport; Donald of Bellevue; Mrs. Eva King of Maquoketa. All of the children were here for the funeral.
The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Buchner chapel, Rev. J. J. Kidder officiating and interment made in the Andrew cemetery.
