Maquoketa, Ia. Aug. 26--In the passing away of Mrs. D. T. Barnes at 7 o'clock Thursday evening Maquoketa loses another of her highly esteemed pioneer citizens, who has lived a long and useful life--one whose good deeds and kindnesses will long be remembered. It is, indeed, sad to see so many of these landmarks leaving us and passing to the great beyond.

Mrs. Margaret Barnes was born in Ireland April 11, 1828, making her 88 years, 7 months and 14 days old.

Her father was born in Ireland and her mother in Scotland. She leaves her husband and nine children to mourn her loss, as follows:

Thos. Barnes, Jr., Maquoketa, Milo Barnes, Dysart, Iowa, Eugene Barnes, Maquoketa; Orville Current, Baldwin, Iowa; Phoebe Barnes, Maquoketa; Mary Allard, Maquoketa; Jennie Johnson, Maquoketa; Orpheus Barnes, Estherville, Ia., Mrs. C. V. Burleson, Maquoketa, R.R. 1.

The funeral will be held at the house Sunday, Aug. 27, 1916, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Boomershine officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope cemetery.
