Preston, Iowa, July 21--One by one the settlers of the county are crossing the silent river, never more to return, but the impress of their moral worth is never lost, but ever left among those who knew them. The solemn event brings to all the surety of death and the brighter world beyond.

Chris Farley has gone to his reward, leaving a large circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn his death.

Mr. Farley has been in ill health for several months, but never in that time did he lose interest in private or public life.

Chris Farley was born June 20th, 1870, on the farm south of Preston. He has lived in town for the last few years, where he passed away Sunday, July 16th, at 11 o'clock a.m. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at his home at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Tongue officiating. Interment was made in Van Buren cemetery.

He leaves to mourn his death two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Warren Kellogg of Miles, Mrs. Charley Weasmer and G. E. Farley of Preston and John Farley of Present Oak.

Mrs. Anna Kingman, niece of Mr. Farley, on Montana, was present at the funeral.
