David Lynn Wise, age 84 of Sabula, Iowa was a loving husband and father. He passed away doing what he loved most, spending time on the family farm. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, with Military Honors to follow the service. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Calvary Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.

David was born February 7, 1935 on the family farm near Sabula, the son of William and Viola (Prusia) Wise. He attended country school near the farm and graduated from Sabula High School with the Class of 1952. David served in the Army during the Korean War, spending three years in Alaska. He entered the service in July of 1954, and on August 14, 1954, David married Geraldean “Jerry” Kindred. David and Jerry both lived in Alaska during his service in the Army. They celebrated 64 years of marriage and raised three children.

David was a lifelong farmer, and worked the farm himself until just a few years ago. He also worked over thirty years at Dupont in Clinton as a Supervisor. Even in recent years, David spent a great deal of time helping other farmers, gardening, and preparing for hunting seasons. David had a great work ethic, and still made plenty of time for hunting, fishing and houseboating. He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of Sabula, the Isaac Walton League, and the Sabula American Legion. In order to commemorate his time spent in the Army during the Korean War, David was able to take an Honor Flight to Washington DC.

David will be dearly missed by his wife, Jerry of Sabula; three children, Kenneth (Nina) Wise of Edwards, Colorado, Debra (Max) Hilton of North Liberty, Iowa and Valerie (Jeff) Adcock of North Liberty; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Spencer, Kelsey, Michael, Erin, Sarah, Bryson and Brayden; one great-grandson, Callen; and a brother, Darrell (Julie) Wise of Des Moines. David is preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Donald and Alan; his beloved dog Molly and grand-dog Grayson.
