Bellevue, Iowa, June 1--An aged citizen and veteran of the civil war, Philip Fablinger passed away at his home Saturday last. He suffered a paralytic stroke over a month ago from which he never rallied. He was past 78 years of age, was born in Maryland in 1873. From Maryland he came to Galena, Illinois with his family in 1861. He enlisted when the call came in 1861. He served through the war and received several wounds, one of which crippled him for life. He was honorably discharged June 11, 1865. He came back to Iowa 1871, locating at Bellevue. It was here he was married to Miss Hannah Efferding, whom he leaves to mourn with five children. He also leaves five brothers and five sisters and many friends.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Bellevue Presbyterian church, the pastor H. C. Irvine conducting the services. Interment was made in the Presbyterian cemetery.

The pallbearers were all sons of veterans as follows: Harry Nicholson, Harvey Weinschens, Leslie Bennett, Joe Young, Henry Graff and Frank Heckelmiller.
