Bellevue, Sept. 13 -- At the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alred Philips, a well known citizen of Bellevue, J. H. Glade, passed away, Sept. 10 at the age of 74 years.
He was born in Hanover, Germany, March 5, 1839. At 9 years of age he came into Jackson county. April 18, 1863, he was married to Wilhelmina Etting. A short time was spent in Minnesota on a farm from thence he moved on a farm near Cottonville where he remained until he moved into Bellevue nearly twenty-three years ago.
Mrs. Glade preceded her husband to the better world, passing away in May, 1900.
Four sons and four daughters survive him: Mrs. N. C. Bristol, Mrs. A. N. Philips and Mrs. LeRoy Yeager of Bellevue; Mrs. Sarah Sisler of Epworth; Fred and George of Bellevue; Joe, Route 1, Bellevue, and Burt of Andrew.
Mr. Glad was a citizen held in high esteem by those who knew him, a man of energy, purpose and industry. For many years he was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church.
the funeral was held Saturday at ? p. m. Interment in the Lutheran cemetery.
