Maquoketa, Ia. April 17--Sunday at 4:30 p.m. occurred the death of Melvern Peters at his home at Andrew. Deceased was 20 years old April 8th and was the son of the late Andrew Peters. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.

19 April 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser

Maquoketa, Ia. April 19--The body of Verne Peters arrived yesterday from the state hospital at Independence, where he had been cared for the past year and a half. Verne was born in Maquoketa April 8, 1896. His mother, Mrs. Andrew Peters, and sisters, Miss Lulu and Mrs. Bessie Andrews, survive him. The funeral was held at 2:30 this afternoon. Interment at Mt. Hope cemetery.
