Rachel Sue Hoffman, 53, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2019 at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Rachel was born on July 4, 1965, in Bellevue, IA to James (Rita) Reuss of Bellevue, IA and Muriel (Nelson) Reuss of Maquoketa, IA. She was a 1983 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. Rachel married Keith Hoffman on July 25, 1992 at the United Methodist Church in Maquoketa, IA. Rachel loved her Friday night date nights with Keith. She enjoyed going out to eat, playing BINGO, and going to the casino with him. Keith and Rachel re-lived their honeymoon for their 25th wedding anniversary, as they went to Las Vegas in August 2017. She was employed at Walmart for several years, and currently employed as the assistant manager at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Keith, and her three loving sons: Jacob (Tiffany) Hoffman, Adam (Amy) Hoffman, and Tyler (Kayla) Hoffman all of Maquoketa, IA. She loved spending as much time as possible with her seven grandchildren: Noah, Averie, Madilynn, Grayson, Dallas, Evelynn, and Elaina. Rachel is also survived by her parents and mother-in-law, Delores Hoffman of Springbrook, IA, three siblings: Paul (Mary) Reuss of Lost Nation, IA, Rebecca Hoffman of Dubuque, IA, and Julie Harford of Denver, CO, and five brothers and sisters-in-law: Karen (Jeff) Wells of Maquoketa, IA, Kathy (Steve) Tebbe of Bellevue, IA, Kevin (Nina) Hoffman of Charlotte, IA, Karla (Kicker) Kilburg of Springbrook, IA and Kurt Hoffman of Dubuque, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a great uncle. Rachel was preceded in death by her father-in-law Verdis Hoffman and a brother John Reuss.

Rachel will be remembered as a kind, loving, and gracious wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her laugh will never be forgotten, and her smile could light up a room. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 P.M. on Monday at Carson Celebration of Life Center. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

The Hoffman family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff with Maquoketa Fire and Rescue and Jackson County Regional Health Center Ambulance Service and Emergency Room staff.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Rachel S. Hoffman memorial fund has been established.
