Marvin was born on February 26, 1938, one of seven siblings, in Bellevue, Iowa, son of Arthur A. & Irene M. (Pierret) Kennicker. On June 6, 1959, he married Mary (Franz) Kennicker at Holy Trinity Church in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1970 Mary and Marv purchased the family farm in Georgetown which was his present home.

Marv worked twenty-seven years, full-time at the Dubuque Packing Co., until its closure. His main interest was his enjoyment of working on the family farm with his friends and family.

Marv always looked forward to visiting with company coming and going from their farm, including the farm help that he guided and raised through the years. He enjoyed the holiday time and celebrations, including the 4th of July fireworks, the kids' wild game feed, and cocktails with friends that visited. When he could find some time to slip away from work, he found enjoyment squirrel and deer hunting on his property. Marv took pride in the farm, especially keeping the machinery clean. Even after his stroke, Marv kept an eye on the farm, never missing the opportunity to supervise and teach the farm help.

Marvin was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City.

He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family.

Marvin is survived by sons, James, John, Joey (Amy Baus), Jeffery (Sue Steinhoff); son-in-law, Patrick Mulligan; granddaughters, Jamie (Chet) Lee, Abbey (Jakob Stein) Baus, Shannon Mulligan and Maddey Kennicker; and great-grandsons, Brett and Alex Lee.
