28 January 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser

This morning at Agatha hospital at 8 o'clock occurred the death of Miss Mary Kuhl, aged about fifty years, after an illness of several years' duration. Death was due to dropsy. Miss Kuhl has been confined to the hospital for about ten days.

The deceased is survived by two brothers, John and Henry, and three sisters, Mrs. John Haeppner of Miles, Mrs. Henry Jess of Teeds Grove and Mrs. P. Jess of Clinton. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been completed, but burial will be in the cemetery north of Hauntown.

Sabula, Ia. Feb. 3 -- Miss Emma Kuhl was at the time of her death 47 years, 6 months old. She was born near the village of Sterling, Iowa, on a farm, where she spent most of her life, till ten years ago, when she moved to the city of Sabula with her mother. Her father died a number of years before, and her mother passed away on Dec. 23, 1914. After the death of her mother she had been visiting and living with her brothers and sisters, till a few weeks ago, when she began to fail in health, when she was taken to the Agatha hospital in Clinton, where she passed away to the beautiful land above on Friday, Jan. 28, 1916, at 8 o'clock. She is survived by five brothers and five sisters. The funeral was held at the Congregational church on Monday at one o'clock, Rev. Kiles of Miles officiating. Beautiful hymns were sung by Miss Petersen and Miss Gage and Miss Day as pianist. The remains were laid to rest beside her parents in the Canada Hollow cemetery.
