Amos “Sonny” Kallenberger Jr., 80, passed away in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 31, 2019.

Amos was born in Iowa City, Iowa, to parents Myrtle Flagel and Amos Kallenberger Sr. on May 18, 1938.

He attended Maquoketa schools and was employed at Alcoa in Bettendorf, Iowa, and Rasmussen Motors in Maquoketa.

He married Patricia Stutting and later divorced. He married Carol Noel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and spent their lives in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, and later in Tucson, Arizona.

Amos retired from Ralston Purina in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

Amos loved to travel and spend time with his family. He loved exploring the history of the Old West in Texas and Arizona and travelled all over the country and enjoyed the camping life.

He is survived by his daughters Theresa (Jeff) Dubler, of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Pamela Willow of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, sisters Nancy Brewster of Baldwin, Iowa, Bonnie Kallenberger, Rose Leiderbach, and Barb Currie of Maquoketa, Iowa, Mary Kallenberger of Amboy, Washington, and brothers Allen Currie (Cathi) of Washington, Iowa, and Gale Currie (Nancy) of Bellevue, Iowa.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carol; his parents; two daughters, Vicky Miller and Gerri Lynn Kallenberger; a brother, Jack Kallenberger; sisters, Sharon Casey and Margaret Wilburn; and his stepfather, Paul Currie.

There will be private graveside services at a later date.
