Dean E. Riordan, 49, of Monmouth, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 11, 2018, at his home.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 P.M., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the American Legion Hall in Sabula, Iowa. A natural journey farewell with cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Dean Elliott Riordan was born on October 10, 1969 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to John James and Shirley Joan (Moellenhoff) Riordan. He was a 1988 graduate of Preston High School.

Dean was self-employed and involved in several businesses throughout the years including Riordan's Junk Yard, JC Enterprise, and Riordan's Thrift Store. He had also worked as a mechanic and a lawn mower repairman.

Dean enjoyed working on lawnmowers and cars, spending time with his children and grandchildren, making big holiday meals for family and friends, and visiting with people at Cindy's bar.

He is survived by his children, Roy (Ashlee) of Blue Grass, IA, Amy (Tyson) of Clinton, IA, Cody of Andrew, IA, and Tyler of Andrew, IA; 3 grandchildren, Alyanna, Mayverick, LayLyne; sisters, Mary (Terry) Brooks of Oxford Junction, IA, Wendy (Marty) Walsh of Maquoketa, IA, and Lorna (Gregg) O'Bryant of Sabula, IA; aunt, Grace Dague of Maquoketa, IA; and a brother-in-law, Terry Ricklefs of Monmouth, IA. He was preceded death by his parents, a sister Lori Ralston, a brother Shawn Riordan, and his common-law wife of 18 years Tammy Ricklefs on August 27, 2011.
