Loran N. Burken age 77 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday Oct. 2, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. Mass will be held 11:00AM Friday at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held Thursday 3 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home and Friday 9:30 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be held at Smith Cemetery. Loran was born on Feb. 12, 1941 in Bellevue, IA, the son of Victor and Martha (Feller) Burken. He graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1959. Loran enlisted in the Iowa National Guard in 1959; he was called to duty to serve the Clinton Community during the flood of 1965. He married Betty Lou Banowetz on Jan. 9, 1965 in Sugar Creek, IA. Loran farmed his whole life, where he founded the Blue Hyll Dairy farm. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Eastern Iowa Polka Club, a lifetime member of the Clinton Moose Lodge, and numerous other local and national organizations.

Loran is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Burken of Clinton; his three children, Barbara (Mike) Vakulskas of Eldridge, Michael (Heather) Burken of Clinton, and Martin (Susan) Burken of Clinton; six grandchildren, Heather (Ray) Terhune, Nathan (Kelsey) Easley, Hannah, Lexie, Haley, and Hillary Burken; two great grandchildren, Brayden and Hollis Terhune; seven brothers, Jerome (Janis) Burken of Clinton, Leo Burken of Sprageville, IA, Gene (Nancy) Burken of Miles, Earl (Colleen) Burken of Clinton, David (Kathy) Burken of Clinton, Daniel (Lois) Burken of Preston, and Donald (Linda) Burken of Clinton; five sisters, Dora Meyer of Maquoketa, Judy (Larry) Farrell of Clinton, Marietta (Jim Roling) Trenkamp of Clinton, Elaine (Ron) Holdgrafer of Miles, and Anna (John) Lorenzen of Bryant; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lois Miller.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held Thursday 3 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home and Friday 9:30 AM until the service hour at the church.

Mass:
Mass will be held 11:00AM Friday at Prince of Peace Parish. Burial will be held at Smith Cemetery.
