Glen T. "Moose" Crawford, 91, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 25, 2018, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A private graveside service and burial will be held at the Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. There is no public visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Glen Thomas Crawford was born on January 19, 1927 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Herbert Ronald and Nellie (Mayo) Crawford. He was a 1944 graduate of Maquoketa High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge. He married Joan Myatt on January 26, 1951 in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Glen was a lifelong resident of Maquoketa and worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 37 years. After retirement, he worked at Theisen's in Maquoketa for over 25 years.

Glen had been a member of the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75 and the Maquoketa United Church of Christ. He had served on the Maquoketa City Council and for many years had been a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, receiving the distinguished Scouting Silver Beaver Award. He enjoyed and participated in Barbershop music, and also liked camping, canoeing, gardening, bird watching, puzzles, and antiquing for Myott Pottery. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Joan Crawford of Maquoketa, IA; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Pam Crawford of Maquoketa, IA; 5 grandchildren, Kelli (Roy) Lines, Kristi (Kent) Bennis, Ryan (Jennifer) Tracy, Angela Quick-Iverson (Erik), and Karma Quick-Panwala (Asit); and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald and Jim Crawford, sisters Maxine Crawford and Margaret Ellen Savory, and a daughter Nan Ellen Tracy on July 3, 2018.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
