Donald F. Miller, 86, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at his home in rural Maquoketa.

A private family celebration of Donald's life will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, September 7, 2018, at the East Iron Hill Community Church, rural Maquoketa. There is no public visitation. Burial will be at the East Iron Hill Cemetery at a later date. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Donald Franklin Miller was born on October 6, 1931 in Clinton County, Iowa, to Elmer and Grace (Sagers) Miller. He attended Jackson County country schools and married Maxine Tracy on December 22, 1951 in rural Baldwin, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Joyce, Stephen and Tracy.

Donald was a lifelong farmer. In his early years, he had worked as a farmhand, electrician for Stickley Electric, gas attendant for Seeburger Service Station, and at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa.

Donald had previously served on the board of directors the Jackson County Chapter of the Iowa Farm Bureau, Jackson County Extension Service Board, and on the Jansen Residential Care Center Advocacy Board. He loved to dance, play cards, and farm. He was especially fond of his faithful and loyal companion, his dog "Doc".

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Maxine Miller of Maquoketa, IA; children, Joyce (Kim) Richardson of Pelican Rapids, MN, Stephen (Barb) Miller of Maquoketa, IA, and Tracy (Keith) Nims of Davenport, IA; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a brother Dave (Janet) Miller of Maquoketa, IA; sisters, Laurel (Milo) Baker of Maquoketa, IA, and Marilyn (Don) Dietz of Maquoketa, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Calvin
