Sandra A. House, 81, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, August 24, 2018, at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Friends and family may gather in remembrance of Sandra on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. in "The Bistro" at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Public graveside services and burial will be held at 1 P.M. from Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa.

Sandra Ann Haylock was born on March 27, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa, to Lloyd and Generose "Jean" (Rutenbeck) Haylock. She was a Maquoketa High School graduate and then went to Cosmetology School in Dubuque. She married Keith House on January 27, 1956 in Maquoketa, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born, Nancy and Louanne.

Sandra had first worked as a hairdresser at LaMohr's Beauty Salon in Maquoketa from 1959 to 1969. In 1970, she started Sandy's Beauty Salon and operated that until 1977. She and Keith then traveled extensively and spent many winters in McAllen, Texas. They moved back to Maquoketa in 2008.

Sandra was a social person who enjoyed shopping, writing letters, and visiting with friends and neighbors. She also loved flowers, doing yard work and attending her class reunion functions each month. She especially loved family get togethers and her dog Jake. Her favorite food recipes which she passed on to family was her homemade chip dip and homemade pizza.

Those left to honor Sandra's memory include her daughters, Nancy (Tom) Highly of Moline, IL, and Louanne Clark of Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, Amber Highly, Brett Highly, Eric (Maryann) Taylor, Lynn Taylor, Casey (Sarah) Taylor and Kyle Clark; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Jean) Haylock of Parkersburg, IA, and Chuck (Kimberly) Haylock of Portland, OR; and a brothers-in-law, Duane Hansen of Maquoketa, IA and Harlan Wilslef of Preston, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jim, a sister Judy Hansen, half-sister Betty, half-brothers Lloyd and Wayne, and her husband Keith on February 21, 2012.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, Sandra Ann House memorial fund has been established.
