Michael L. "Mike" DeMoss, 44, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018.

A private military graveside service and burial was held from the Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa. No public visitation or services are planned. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Michael Lee DeMoss was born on December 21, 1973 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Rick and Karen (Usher) DeMoss. He was a graduate of Maquoketa Community High School and then entered the U.S. Army earning an honorable discharge.

Following his military service, Mike worked in Seattle, Washington for a short time prior to moving back to Maquoketa. He then worked for ADAC Plastics and for the past several years for the Maquoketa Law Center as a 911 Dispatcher.

Mike had been a member of the Maquoketa Fire Department and Maquoketa Police Reserves.

Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Rick and Karen DeMoss of Maquoketa, IA; aunts and uncles, Richard and Malaise Usher of Delmar, IA, and Sharon and Mike Moore of Maquoketa, IA; and 9 cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorials may be directed to the Maquoketa Police Department or to the Maquoketa Fire Department.
