Ival Wayne Dague, 76, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away, October 2, 2015, at Eagle Pointe Place in Dubuque, Iowa.

A gathering of family and friends celebrating Wayne's life will be held from 2 to 4 P.M., Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at a later date in the Reeseville Cemetery, rural Miles, Iowa.

Ival Wayne Dague was born on June 8, 1939 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Ival E. and Helen M. (Weets) Dague. He was a 1957 graduate of Maquoketa High School. He married Barbara Johnson on June 12, 1960 at Calvary Lutheran in Sabula, Iowa.

Wayne's first job was at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa. Where, like most, he worked along side many family members. He continued to work in industrial positions at Lord Baltimore, Alcoa and Ralston-Purina, where he retired after 27 years of service. Wayne was not content to "relax" during retirement, so he worked for Precision Metal Works, Dick's Grocery & the RTA. He lived in Sabula, Clinton/Camanche area & retired to rural Maquoketa to be near family. It was here he finally purchased his very own farm/country, "dirt", as he called it.

Wayne had been a member of the NRA, Izaak Walton League, and Calvary Lutheran Church. Wayne served as an EMT/Firefighter on the Sabula Volunteer Fire Department. He and Barbara also supported their girls as Boosters for the former East Central Schools.

Wayne loved nature, was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and all things farm related, especially horses, which he broke in his younger years. He had a unique respect for Bald Eagles. He liked to play cards, especially Euchre, and "shoot the bull" with family and friends, always entertaining them with his quick wit and great sense of humor.

Those left to honor Wayne's memory include his wife Barbara Dague of Maquoketa; daughter Dagmar (Richard) Merfeld of Dubuque; their 3 sons; Erick (Jeanne Slade) Merfeld, Elijah (Sasha Smith) and Ehren (Naomi Fisher); 4 "great granddaughters" and a great grandson on the way. Daughter Amanda (Paul) Hook of Clinton; their 7 children; Alexandra, Sean, Miah, Genevieve, Bella, Hannah and Lila; a sister Delores Manning of Maquoketa; 2 sister-in-laws Shirley Dague of Maquoketa and Jolinda Hendrix of NJ and 1 brother-in-law Robert Adney of Clinton; as well as several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald and Darrell, a sister Ella Mae, parent in laws, and 2 brother-in-laws, Darrell Manning of Maquoketa, and C. Thomas Hendrix of NJ.

An Ival Wayne Dague memorial fund has been established.
